Lagerwey and Novawind set up joint venture Red Wind

NovaWind, the subsidiary of RosAtom responsible for its renewable energy programs, and its technology partner, the Dutch windturbine manufacturere Lagerwey, have set up a joint venture under the name Red Wind.

The agreement was signed on November 30th 2017 during the WindEurope-fair in Amsterdam by Alexander Korchagin, CEO of NovaWind, and Huib Morelisse, CEO of Lagerwey. This builds on the license agreement that was signed earlier this year in Moscow.

With the agreement the joint venture Red Wind B.V. has been set up. Emin Askerov, acting general director of NovaWind, has been appointed as CEO of the joint venture. Sjoerd Sieburgh Sjoerdsma has been named managing director. The management team of Red Wind will soon be announced and will consist of capable international professionals.

Red Wind is responsible for the marketing, sales and delivery of turnkey-windturbines, and for the aftersales-support. Red Wind will also lead the localization programme in Russia by contracting suppliers for the production locations of NovaWind in Volgodonsk and making sure that they acquire the right qualifications. The current productionprogram will supply 388 windturbines by 2022. VetroSGC, an energy utility company, will remain the owner of the windparks.

“This agreement is the result of consistent, constructive efforts from our combined team, that has been active since the signing of the license agreement. The document confirms our mutual commitment to the success of the wind energy programme in Russia. I can now proudly say that we have all the required competences on board to launch the Russian wind energy industry driven by unparalleled technology and with the strongest possible managementteam”, says Alexander Korchagin, CEO of NovaWind.

Huib Morelisse, CEO of Lagerwey: “This joint venture is a logical next step in our combined effort to build a solid and technologically advanced Russian wind energy industry. Together we are building the grounding for a new market with enormous potential. We are proud of the fact that our Dutch technology forms lies at the heart of this.”
